THERAPEUTIC APPROACH:

My approach to therapy is kind, relational, and supportive. I genuinely connect with clients, creating a space that gently states: “Come as you are.” My approach to therapy is person-centered, meaning that I listen to clients’ stories, validate their experiences, and support their individual therapeutic needs. My approach to therapy is also trauma-informed. I view therapy as a collaboration and invite clients to set the pace for a healing process that feels authentic to them.

In sessions, I invite clients to explore breathing exercises, play, movement, and art as a way to ground and build connections to self. My aim is to help clients feel comfortable expressing their inner thoughts, feelings, and sensations so that they may authentically engage in meaningful relationships and self-compassion. I maintain a deep belief in and admiration of the power of human connection, and I am honored each time a client invites me to listen to their story.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

I completed a Master of Education in Educational Psychology from the University of Texas at Austin. I also completed a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Art History from the University of Texas at Austin.

PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:

Prior to becoming a mental health professional, I served adolescents and young adults as the Director of a charter high school in Austin. I developed a passion for working with this population in areas of identity development, trauma, and attachment. Our students entered school with high levels of trauma and academic difficulties. In an effort to build community and connection on our campus, I developed a social emotional learning program, ran community service projects, and led weekly physical education. I have worked with children in various formats, including coaching soccer and working in a child development center abroad.

As a clinical intern with a local non-profit, I provided individual counseling to children, adolescents, and adults. I worked with clients with histories of complex trauma, PTSD, substance use, criminal justice involvement, and sexual abuse. I provided group counseling to individuals at Travis County Correctional Complex and ran emotional regulation groups for elementary aged students.

Outside of my professional role, I enjoy spotting birds while running on Town Lake, reading, practicing yoga, and strolling through the neighborhood with my partner.
